Lewisham Mencap is a charity run voluntarily by and for people with learning disabilities, their families and carers. With high levels of personal commitment and the desire to make life vibrant and fun for people who have a learning disability and their support networks, Lewisham Mencap has been an integral part of many lives for the last 70 years.
What are Lewisham Mencap up to?
In Autumn 2021 we have re-opened our doors to the hundreds of people that have been amongst the most isolated during the 2020 – 2021.
Lewisham Mencap is now looking to merge with a local charity.
While we focus on developing our social club offer, growing our community and membership and continue to promote the rights of people with a learning disability, we hope to find the organisation that will empower us and support us and reaching our goals through a happy merger.

Services
Weekly Social Clubs
We run the largest events dedicated to people with a learning disability and their support network in the Lewisham Borough.
Group holidays and parties
We organise trips to the beach in the Summer. We also run Saturday Evening Discos 6 times a year for Summer, Halloween, Christmas, New Year, St Valentine’s and Easter.
Community building and sign-posting
We develop partnerships with local organisations such as the NHS, the local council or other charities, to ensure access to information and improved services for our members.
Our volunteers are everything to us
